Species number (TNS): 010. Fore wing length: 35–43 mm. Distribution and seasonality: Coastally south from Cooktown in Queensland to Newcastle in New South Wales. Adults appear in November and populations may persist until May. Notable localities: Cairns airport, Curtis Island, Sandstone Point, Nudgee Beach, Hexham Swamp. Habitat: Coastal mangroves in the tidal zone. Females may be found in coastal dune vegetation outside of the tidal zone. Calling song and behaviour: A distinctive, far carrying rattle. Adults sit on the upper branches of mangroves. Similar species: White Drummer, Tetrodonta Cicada.
