Species number (TNS): 063. Fore wing length: 46–61 mm. Distribution and seasonality: Restricted to the Top End of the Northern Territory where it is known from Darwin, Lee Point, Howard Springs, Berry Springs and Cahills Crossing. Populations display sporadic emergence times from year to, with adults being present between November and February. Notable localities: Millner, Berry Springs. Habitat: Tropical bushland, monsoon thickets, parks and gardens. Calling song and behaviour: A loud series of crackling phrases followed by a long drone and repeated. Singing may occur at any time of the day and typically also occurs at dusk. Adults sit on the main trunks and upper branches of eucalypts. Similar species: None; a distinctive cicada.
