Fore wing length:
19–23 mm.
Distribution and seasonality:
Western Australia, in the area between
Bullfinch, Menzies, Mullewa and
Sandstone, South Australia where it is
known only from near Lake Gilles (J. van
Weenen & A. Stolarski), and New South
Wales, from Tarawi Nature Reserve
(D. Egan) east to Nombinnie Nature
Reserve (J. Poyitt). Adults occur from
late November to early March.
Notable localities:
near Menzies.
Habitat:
Mallee eucalypt woodland.
Calling song and behaviour:
A persistent call with frequent
Interchanges between rapid pulsing and
buzzing, similar to the call of Large
Mallee Squawker, but much higher
pitched. Males call from the branches of
mallee eucalypts.
Similar species:
Lively Squawker, Oven Squawker.
