Previously referred to as Notopsalta atrata. Species number (TNS): 275. Fore wing length: 13–17 mm. Distribution and seasonality: Restricted to the Hawkesbury Sandstone region of central New South Wales. Records are currently restricted to the Greater Sydney area. Adults are present from September to March. Notable localities: Kuring-Gai Chase National Park (B. Smith), Royal National Park. Habitat: This species occurs in woodland with a heathy understorey and in open heathland. Calling song and behaviour: A high-pitched rattle that accelerates into a buzzing phrase, repeated several times. Similar species: Distinctive, though related to Bassian Buzzer and Fence Buzzer, which also occur in Greater Sydney.
