Species number (TNS): 956. Fore wing length: 16–21 mm. Distribution and seasonality: Restricted to near Meningie, Malinong and Messent Conservation Park in south-eastern South Australia. Adults have been found in December and January. Notable localities: 11.5 km south of Malinong (A. Stolarski). Habitat: Found in mallee/heath associations. Calling song and behaviour: Rapid ticking produce in flight. Males fly actively and call while patrolling. Similar species: None. Some poorly-known relatives of S. mallee occur in south-west Western Australia.
